AUTOMATIC WEATHER STATION

An automatic weather station (AWS) is an automated version of the traditional weather station, either to save human labour or to enable measurements from remote areas. An AWS will typically consist of a weather-proof enclosure containing the data logger, rechargeable battery, telemetry (optional) and the meteorological sensors with an attached solar panel or wind turbine and mounted upon a mast. The system may report in near real time via the Argos System and the Global Telecommunications System, or save the data for later recovery.

In the past, automatic weather stations were often placed where electricity and communication lines were available. Nowadays, the solar panel, wind turbine and mobile phone technology have made it possible to have wireless stations that are not connected to the electrical grid or hardline telecommunications network.

CONFIGURATION:

1) Data logger The data logger should be connected with a battery and its battery charger/Solar Panel. The equipment must have the facility to connect all the sensors mentioned below with facility to connect additional sensor minimum 4 sensors for future requirements The sensors should be connected to the data logger using suitable connectors. Should Have 4G GPRS Modem to Interface to the Cloud Cloud monitoring should be provided on the existing Server Weather proof covering: The entire equipment must be mounted on a pole at a convenient place. The unit should be well protected from rain, dust, and have to design for hostile and adverse weather conditions ideal for forest application.
2) Power: 12 V DC. With battery and Battery charger. (Lithium polymer batteries).
3) Sensors: The sensor and its mast should have compatible design for installing inside the forest considering the hostile, humid condition existing in forest areas.
A)Air Temperature and Relative humidity sensor:
 Air Temperature: Range: -40 to 65°C Accuracy : +/- 0.5 °C Resolution: 0.01 °C Type of sensor: Digital
 Relative Humidity Range: 0 to 100 Accuracy: +/- 2 % Resolution: 1 % Type of sensor: Capacitance type. Both Air temperature and Relative Humidity sensors should be assembled in one Solar Radiation Shield :1 nos. Output : Serial Communication Output Should be Compatible with Datalogger
B)Wind Velocity sensor: Made out of 3-cup rotor - Special Dual bearing for free rotation of cups. Ranges : 0 to 320 Kmph. Accuracy +/- 3 Kmph or 5% Resolution: 1 Kmph. Housing material : UV stabilized polyproplene Threshold value : 3 Kmph. Outputs units selectable by User Outputs Frequency Should be Compatible with Datalogger
C)Wind Direction sensor: Should measure the direction of wind having very low threshold. Type: Wind wane with magnet coupled contact free coupling without wear and tear, it should be suitable for long term operation. (No potentiometer is used which reduces the life of the sensor.) Range : 0 to 360ᴼ +/- 2ᴼ Housing material : UV stabilized polyproplene Threshold value : Less than 3 kmph. Outputs Should be Compatible with Datalogger
D)Rain Gauge: It should measure the total rain in milli meter accuracy using tipping bucket rain gauge. Self-emptying rain sensor with measurement accuracy of 0.2 mm/tip. Type of measurement : Tipping bucket. Volume of tip/bucket : 0.2 mm. Casing : UV stabilized polyproplene Rain Collector (16.5 cm) Collection Area (214 cm2 ) With protection Spikes against Birds Accuracy 3% Outputs Should be Compatible with Datalogger
4) Tripod Stainless Steel with Adjustable Height upto 2 mts Mast Dia 1.5 “ to 2” With mounting Accessories for Fixing on the ground Provision For Mounting All the Sensor ,Datalogger, Solar Panel, Battery
5) Solar panel: Monocrystalline Solar Panel 12v 10 watt
6) Battery : 12v 7 AH The sensor mast cables and other accessories must be supplied along with the equipment.
7) Housing : IP65 for mounting Datalogger ,Battery ,Charge Controller, Installation.
